W. Chad Jenkins graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1999 and holds an undergraduate degree from Newberry College. During college and law school, he served as an office courier and law clerk at Pope & Hudgens. After law school, Chad served a judicial clerkship in the South Carolina Circuit Court and then returned to Pope & Hudgens, P.A. Chad has been a practicing attorney with Pope & Hudgens, P.A. since September 2000 and was named partner/shareholder in 2005.
Chad's primary areas of practice include criminal defense, family court matters and personal injury cases. Chad occasionally handles other litigation matters and recently obtained a sizable verdict for a local business in a worker's compensation insurance coverage dispute. Chad has a thriving criminal defense practice and he regularly handles felony and misdemeanor cases, including driving under the influence (DUI) and other traffic related matters. Chad was a presenter at a continuing legal education seminar focusing on criminal trials in South Carolina. He has taken courses to become Field Sobriety Test certified and continues to learn the latest techniques utilized by law enforcement, including Drug Recognition Evaluations.
Chad is a past president of the Newberry County Bar and is a member of the American Association of Justice, South Carolina Association of Justice, South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the American Bar Association. Chad is also active in the community and is the attorney-coach for the Mid Carolina High School Mock Trial team. He was named "Best Attorney" by the readers of The Newberry Observer in 2010.
Chad is originally from Union, South Carolina and is married to Melanie Adkins Jenkins. They are active members of Central United Methodist Church and the Carolinian Society. Chad enjoys the outdoors, including hunting, gardening, and is an avid bicyclist.Areas of Practice
